Frequently Asked Questions

Below is a list of our most frequently asked questions.  If you do not find an answer to yours, please send us an email at customerservice@silverdollarco.net

Why are silver dollars valuable?

Silver dollars have high collectible value.  Because of their high silver content, millions have been melted down over the years. As a result, genuine American silver dollars have become scarcer and more valuable.  And as silver prices continue to rise, they will only become more valuable.

Liberty coins' collectible value also stems from their historical significance.  Imagine holding an old coin that has passed through the hands of dozens of people over the course of a century.  Silver dollars were regularly used by western cowboys, saloon owners, big city gangsters, and many others—who knows what wild things that coin has seen? Owning a Morgan dollar or Peace dollar gives you a tangible connection to the past.

And who can say no to a big chunk of silver?

How do I know these coins are authentic?

All of our coins are carefully authenticated prior to being sold.  If any turns out to be a fake (which is very rare), we immediately destroy it so as to permanently remove it from circulation.  In addition to our 30-day money-back satisfaction guarantee, we also offer a lifetime authenticity guarantee on our coins.  If you buy a coin from us and at any time in the future send it to a third-party grading service (i.e. NGC, PCGS, ICG) and it comes back as a fake, we will send you a full refund.  We stand by our coins here at Silver Dollar Co.  For more details on our return policy, please read our Policies page.

Can I use these coins to buy stuff?

Yes, these rare coins are still considered legal tender.  That being said, we would recommend against using them for monetary purposes as they have a face value of only $1 (unless you really want to impress that cute waitress).

Can you give me some more details on the silver dollars?

Each one dollar coin measures 38.1mm in diameter (1.5") and weighs approximately 26.7g.  The coins are made of .900 silver, with a silver content of .77 troy ounces.

How do you ship your coins?

Each coin is shipped in a bubble wrap cushioned mailer via USPS First Class mail. Delivery takes approximately 3-5 days.
