The Franklin half dollar was the immediate predecessor of the Kennedy Half Dollar series, and was minted from 1948-1963. The coin's obverse features Benjamin Franklin, while the reverse features Philadelphia's Liberty Bell. Each coin measures 30.6mm in diameter, weighs 12.5g, and is made of .900 fine silver.
