One French 5 francs coin, minted between 1832-1848, in Fine or better circulated condition. These coins have seen moderate circulation, but have design features and lettering still well-defined. All of our coins have natural patina/toning, and have never been cleaned.
These silver crown coins were struck under Louis Philippe I, the last French king. Louis Philippe came to power after a popular revolution and the overthrow of the ultra-conservative French king Charles X. Louis started out his reign as a moderately liberal king, popular with the common people of France. But as the years passed, he gradually lost his favor with the people. In 1848, the French held yet another revolution and deposed Louis. The former king was forced into exile and lived his remaining years in England.
